Cats are family, not property. Consider this before adopting or purchasing a cat. If, for some reason, you are not happy with your kitten, do not hesitate to contact us. We welcome kittens born at Ozarkarela back at any time, but not always for a refund. Deposits paid with the purpose of holding/reserving kittens are not refundable. Kittens are guaranteed not to have PKD, FeLV, or FIV. If your kitten is found to have one of these diseases within one six month of the purchase, we will accept it back for a full refund (not including transportation). In this case, buyers can also opt to receive a kitten replacement, if any is available. If the kitten is found to have any other genetic or congenital disease that results in its death within one year of the purchase, the policy above also applies. In both cases, documentation will be required.
Kittens are guaranteed to be healthy at the moment they leave our cattery, being dewormed and having received all due vaccines. Kittens are also microchipped and registered with CFA. The microchips used in kittens are about the size of a grain of rice and implanted under the skin. Each microchip contains a unique reference number that is registered to a database along with the owner’s contact details, allowing you to identify the kitten in case it is lost. Once full payment is received, the breeder will present the buyer with a veterinary's bill of health, the kitten's health history documentation, and the microchip registration. The CFA registration will be provided once the kitten is spayed or neutered.
Buyers will also be asked (contractually required, actually) to take their kitten to a veterinary near them within the first five days of taking the kitten home. This visit should confirm your kitten's good health. If your kitten is verified to be sick during this veterinary visit, we will accept the kitten back for a full refund (not including transportation). Keep in mind that moving to a new home and being separated from their mom and siblings can affect the kitten's immune system. It is very common for kittens to catch a mild cold right after arriving at the new home. Also, any changes in the kitten's diet is likely to cause soft stools or even diarrhea. See the section "Caring for Persian Kittens" for information on how to avoid or minimize moving-related health issues.
Despite all care we provide to our queen and kittens, breeders cannot afford to test a kitten for every possible disease and, just like people, kittens may develop congenital or non-congenital health problems as young or adult individuals. Please consider this before purchasing a kitten. See the section "Resources" to learn about health issues Persian cats are more susceptible to develop. For this reason, our cattery does not refund kittens due to most health issues or cover the cost of related treatments. Given the cost of caring for a Persian kitten or adult cat, we recommend buyers to consider purchasing pet insurance immediately after purchasing the kitten.
Our full return and refund policies are described in the purchase agreement (contract). Please read your contract carefully before committing to the final purchase. Because we are committed to our kittens' happiness and to good customer service, do not hesitate to contact us if you are not satisfied. We do not promise exceptions to the policies above, but we will try to work with you.
We usually share the contract with buyers for their review two weeks prior to delivering the kitten. Serious buyers – those who have reserved a kitten – can request a copy of the contract at any point. Both the breeder and buyer must sign the contract before the final payment is made and the kitten is delivered to their new home. The contract will be sent to the buyer by email in PDF format and can be either printed-signed-scanned or be signed digitally.
