Estimated fees for this program are $3,500 (note that this amount may shift slightly up or down depending on fluctuations in the exchange rate). This fee includes 4 weeks accommodations at St. Clare's College, access to St. Clare's educational facilities and library, a welcome dinner and farewell dinner (plus 2-3 additional group meals), entrance and admission fees to all events and museums, all UK-based travel, and all excursions (including 3 days and 2 nights airfare, travel, accommodations, and excursions in Northern Ireland).
In addition, all CSULB faculty-led summer abroad courses require the following set costs:
ESTIMATED TOTAL (program fees + tuition + travel insurance) = $4,554
In addition to the set costs above, students should budget for roundtrip airfare to and from London Heathrow Airport. Roundtrip flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to London (LHR) range from $600 - $1000 depending on airline, number of stops, and date of purchase. (As of October, 2019, roundtrip flights for May/June of 2020 run about $500 - $680.) There are a number of free apps that allow you to track flight costs, and that will send you alerts when flights to your destination rise or fall. Google offers one such service: Google Flight Tracker
You will also need to budget for meals. Preparing your own meals will cost considerably less than purchasing a meal plan or eating out. Plan to budget about $60 per week if you prepare most of your meals, or up to about $80 per week if you plan to eat some meals out.

The DEADLINE to apply & submit your deposit is mid-February (or until the course is full, which ever comes first) - apply soon!
The course is open to all majors (as well as staff, faculty, alumni, and community members on a space available basis). Faculty permission is required. Priority will be given to CSULB undergraduate and graduate students, though students and community members outside of CSULB are welcome to apply through Open University. Applicants may be asked to participate in a brief interview prior to acceptance.
This course will be capped at 14 students to facilitate ease of local travel and to foster a sense of community within our group. Admission is competitive, and applications will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, students are encouraged to apply ASAP to reserve their spot.
The first step is to complete the application through the CSULB Study Abroad website. Once your application has been reviewed and you have been "accepted" by Dr. Kohfeldt, you will be asked to confirm your commitment to participate. The next step is to pay your deposit for the travel portion of the course ($450, which will be applied to the total program fees). Half of the remaining program balance ($1,575) will be due by late February, 2020. The final half of the program fees ($1,575) will be due in late March, 2020.
