Reflection
Introduction:
Reflective practice has been a crucial part of my development throughout my data bootcamp, helping me mkve beyond simply completing tasks to truly understanding how i learn, work and grow as an analyst.
Reflection:
Starting this bootcamp i was very nervous for a multitude of reasons: presenting, and the overwhelming amount of information being thrown my way. However during my time in this bootcamp, Ive presented a few times and ive become less nervouse and more confident, even offering to present first. And with the overload of information, i learnt to take each piece of information slowly and wrap my head around it as much as possible before moving on. However despute the worries and nervousness, Ive been proud of each task and project ive completed, feeling the work pay off and feeling more motivated to expand my horizons and focus on working on feedback given to me.
Analyse why and how things happened:
Some of the patterns i noticed during my bootcamp was that i found the coding side more difficult than the visualising. And with the feedback ive recieved ive been able to work on my coding abilities and still making progress to become a coding pro.
When im working under pressure its very easy for me to get wrapped up in the stress and nervousness and make mistakes, and that takes up more time and patience.
Summary:
Overall, during my time on the Data analyst bootcamp, ive learnt a wide range of data softwares such as Excel, Python, Tableau, Azure and more.
Ive improved im my communicating and presenting skills.
Ive learnt how to use Github to display my skills and experience.
Ive learnt how to structure my projects for presentation
Key experiences:
My most meaningful moment was during the second week of the bootcamp, we were starting Tableau, and were given an Excel spreadsheet to work with, it was data to do with Spotify. Once we started practicing what we could do with that information and all the different visualisation tools it was really fun, i really enjoyed using Tableau and any difficulties i had became a fun challenge to overcome.
Another meaningul moment was working on Python, i had previous use and knoweldge on python from doing Computer Science as a GCSE. However my knowledge was very limited due to not continuing with the skills i learnt, but jumping right back into Python felt nostalgic and reminded me just how confusing yet rewarding Python could be. I still have a long ways to go with Python but is very rewarding and necessary to know for future career choices.
Evaluate what went well and what didnt:
Positives:
Ive discovered i enjoy making visuals for data and proud of the work ive completed for it, as well as facing the challenges that felt impossible at the start of the bootcamp. Whenever ive had any setbacks, i try my best to clear my mind and not worry and just focus on fixing or creating the data.
Negatives:
Unfortunately, I still have a lot of work to do in each data section, my main focus will be Excel and Python. As these are defintely my weakest points from the bootcamp.
I also need to work on my timing and patience, as when writing code if it doesnt work i get a little stressed and that can lead to me making more mistakes, luckily i take a minute to calm myself before working on the code again and im able to fix my mistake.
Action Plan:
My action plan will be to continue using the data softwares ive learnt while also exploring more software that wasnt touched on in the data bootcamp. I'll also continue building my portfolio and prepare for related job role applications. I'll also be practicing my presentation skills at least once a week.
