This project analyses Spotify music data to uncover how genres and artists differ across key audio features such as popularity, acousticness, loudness, liveness, danceability, and track duration. Using Tableau, the dashboards highlight patterns in listener behaviour, artist performance, and genre characteristics, offering insights that support recommendation systems, playlist strategy, and audience segmentation within the music‑streaming landscape.
The project showcases strong Tableau design, including filters, tooltips, and multi‑chart layouts. Data cleaning ensured audio‑feature fields were consistent and analysis‑ready, while exploratory analysis identified key trends across genres and artists. The insights were structured to support real‑world applications such as recommendation models, playlist design, and market analysis.
The dashboards show that some genres consistently attract higher popularity, while acoustic‑heavy genres stand out clearly in their audio profiles. Loudness levels vary widely, with classical and opera sitting at the quietest end and jazz, world, and folk trending moderately higher. Liveness highlights genres with strong live‑performance roots, such as comedy and opera. Artist‑level visuals reveal that classical composers dominate total track duration, while modern artists show shorter catalogues aligned with contemporary production styles. Danceability trends place children’s and pop‑oriented artists at the top, with classical composers at the lower end.
The dataset is based on Spotify audio features and metadata, including popularity, acousticness, loudness, liveness, danceability, and track duration.
Tableau
Used to design all interactive dashboards, combining filters, tooltips, colour‑coding, and multi‑chart layouts to highlight differences across genres and artists. Tableau served as the main platform for visual exploration and insight communication.
Excel / CSV Files
Used for initial inspection and light formatting of the raw Spotify dataset before deeper analysis and visualisation.
GitHub
Hosted the project files, documentation, and version history. Provided a public repository for showcasing your workflow and technical approach.
Google Sites
Served as the presentation layer for the project, displaying the dashboards and written analysis in a clear, accessible format for viewers.
