Growing up, the water was always my anchor. Whether it was casting a line at sunrise or spending endless hours exploring the shoreline, I was drawn to the outdoors. Over the years, that connection to the ocean only deepened, and with it came a growing sense of responsibility to protect the very places that shaped me.
But while my direction on the water was always clear, my path in school felt far more turbulent.
Throughout high school and college, I struggled to find a major or a career path that felt right. I constantly felt the pressure to fit into pre-made molds—to follow highly structured, traditional routes that simply didn't align with how my brain worked. I didn't look at the world through a rigid corporate lens; I looked at it through a viewfinder.
As a photographer, I had spent years training my creative eye to see things differently, capturing the raw, functional beauty of the outdoors. That creative mindset is what ultimately saved me from the pressure to conform. I realized that the same eye used to compose a perfect shot could be used to design purposeful gear.
OVERSAND was born from that exact revelation. Instead of trying to force myself into a traditional corporate mold, I decided to build my own.
I wanted to combine everything that defined me: a lifelong passion for fishing, a deep respect for the ocean, and a creative, non-business way of thinking. By approaching design from an artist's perspective rather than a textbook business formula, I could create gear that was genuinely functional, visually distinct, and built entirely around conservation.
OVERSAND isn't just a brand. It's proof that you don't have to fit into a pre-cut mold to make a wave. You can carve your own path, protect what you love, and build something meaningful from the ground up.
I have always been an avid outdoorsman. Growing up snowboarding, hiking, and fishing, caring for the outdoors has always been a priority of mine. Knowing that if I can do my part to keep the planet clean, it will be a better place for all who enjoy it.
Meeting my co-founder, Domenick, in high school opened my eyes to new places and experiences, and through that, our vision is slowly but surely becoming a reality. By using my own experiences and even shortcomings, I can bring what I have learned to build products that allow others to feel confident in their adventures and bring purpose to their passion.
What we at OVERSAND strive to be is more than a business. This is a symbol of the life we love to live every day. We appreciate you being part of our journey and look forward to seeing your next adventure.
