Garage Tracker does not collect your personal data, does not track you, does not show ads, and does not have servers that store your information. Your gear data lives on your device or in your own iCloud Drive — full stop.
We do not collect any personal information.
Garage Tracker stores all data — equipment, activities, parts, maintenance records — as plain-text Markdown and CSV files in a location you choose: either on your device (On My iPhone / On My Mac) or in your personal iCloud Drive folder. That data never leaves your device or Apple's iCloud infrastructure. We have no access to it.
Garage Tracker connects to the following third-party services at your explicit request:
Strava If you choose to connect Strava, Garage Tracker requests read-only access to your Strava activities. Activity data is downloaded directly to your device and stored in your local files. We do not transmit your Strava data to any Garage Tracker server — because there is no server.
Strava's privacy policy: https://www.strava.com/legal/privacy
Apple Health If you choose to connect Apple Health, Garage Tracker requests read-only access to workout data in your Health app. This data is processed on-device and stored in your local files. No Health data is transmitted anywhere.
Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
RevenueCat (Subscription Management) Garage Tracker uses RevenueCat to process Pro subscription purchases. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives a non-personally identifiable transaction receipt from Apple's App Store. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any other personal information.
RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Apple App Store All purchases are processed by Apple. Apple's standard App Store privacy practices apply.
Garage Tracker uses your device's GPS only while you are actively recording an activity inside the app (e.g., timing a ride or run). GPS data is used solely to calculate distance and is stored in your local files. It is never transmitted to us or any third party.
Garage Tracker does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and contains no content inappropriate for any age.
Your data is entirely under your control. To delete your data, simply delete the Garage Tracker folder from your device or iCloud Drive. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app preferences. We have no copy of your data to delete on your behalf.
We will update this page if our privacy practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We will never introduce data collection without updating this policy first.

Garage Tracker is a maintenance log for everything in your garage — bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, running shoes, fishing reels, scuba gear, firearms, and anything else that wears out over time.
Set service intervals in miles, hours, days, or calendar time. Connect Strava or Apple Health and your usage tracks itself. You'll always know when something needs attention before it fails.
Your data is stored as plain text files on your device or in iCloud Drive. No account. No cloud subscription. No ads. No tracking.
Choose Your Storage
On first launch, choose where to store your files:
"On My iPhone" — files stay on your device only
"iCloud Drive" — files sync across your Apple devices via iCloud
Add a Bay
A bay is a group of related gear — "Road Bikes", "Off-Road", "Shop Tools". Tap the + button on the main screen to add your first bay.
Add Equipment
Inside a bay, tap + to add a piece of equipment. Choose a type (road bike, ATV, firearm, etc.), give it a name, and set the date it entered service.
Add Parts & Service Intervals
On the equipment detail screen, tap the wrench icon to add a component — chain, brake pads, oil filter, strings, anything. Set how often it needs service (every 500 miles, every 3 months, etc.).
Connect Strava or Apple Health (Optional)
Go to Settings and connect Strava or Apple Health. Future activities will automatically count toward your equipment's usage totals.
Log Activities Manually
Tap "Log Activity" on any equipment detail screen to manually record miles, hours, or sessions.
Automatic Usage Tracking
Connect Strava or Apple Health and rides, runs, workouts, and outdoor activities are automatically matched to the right equipment and counted.
Maintenance Alerts
Parts show a color-coded gauge as they approach their service interval. At 75%, 90%, and 100% you receive a notification. You can also set a calendar-based reminder (every 30 days, every 3 months, etc.) in addition to or instead of a usage-based interval.
Home Screen Widget
Add the Garage Tracker widget to your iPhone home screen. Tap ▶ next to any piece of gear to start timing an activity. Tap Stop & Save when done. Small, medium, and large widget sizes available.
Your Files, Your Format
All data is stored as Markdown (.md) and CSV files you can open in any text editor. Nothing is locked in a proprietary format.
Retire Equipment
When gear is retired (sold, worn out), move it to a Retired state instead of deleting it. All history is preserved in a separate folder for reference.
CSV Export (Pro)
Export your data with five pre-built templates or build your own column layout. Filter by source, date range, or equipment type.
Equipment Scope
Some gear accumulates usage from all activities — like a trainer or a heart rate monitor. Set any equipment to "All indoor" or "All outdoor" scope to aggregate usage automatically.
Road bikes • Mountain bikes • E-bikes • Running shoes • ATVs & side-by-sides • Motorcycles • Snowmobiles • Kayaks & canoes • Scuba gear • Ski boots • Rifles & firearms • Bows • Fishing reels • And anything else
Monthly: $2.99 / month
Annual: $14.99 / year (save 58%)
Note: Pro is a subscription billed through the Apple App Store. Cancel anytime in your iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Your data is never affected by your subscription status — everything you added stays.
Q: Do I need an account?
A: No. Garage Tracker has no accounts, no sign-up, and no login.
Q: Where is my data stored?
A: In plain text files on your device or in your iCloud Drive folder. You own it completely. Open the files in any text editor anytime.
Q: What happens to my data if I cancel Pro?
A: Nothing. All your bays, equipment, activities, and history are still there. You'll just be limited to viewing your first 2 bays and 5 equipment items until you resubscribe.
Q: Can I use Garage Tracker without Strava or Apple Health?
A: Absolutely. All integrations are optional. You can log every activity manually if you prefer.
Q: Why can't I find the widget on my home screen?
A: Long-press your home screen, tap the + button in the top left, and search for "Garage Tracker." The widget requires iOS 17 or later.
Q: Does Strava get access to my Garage Tracker data?
A: No. Garage Tracker reads from Strava — Strava has no access to anything in Garage Tracker.
Q: Can I move my files between iCloud and On My iPhone?
A: Yes. In Settings, you can switch storage locations. Your existing files won't be moved automatically — copy them in the Files app first.
Q: I reset a part by accident. Can I undo it?
A: There is no undo for a part reset. The previous service record is preserved in the equipment's activity history, but the usage counter restarts from the reset date.
Q: How do I back up my data?
A: If you use iCloud Drive, iCloud backs up automatically. For On My iPhone storage, use a regular iPhone backup through iCloud or your Mac. You can also manually copy the Garage Tracker folder in the Files app.
Q: What does "retire" mean vs. "delete"?
A: Retiring moves equipment to a Retired section and stops it from accumulating new usage or service reminders. All history is kept. Deleting is permanent and removes all data for that equipment.
Q: How do I contact support?
A: Email overcomplicateddiy@gmail.com. We typically respond within 48 hours.
