You can also add all episodes to the Unplayed view.

You can do this by double tapping the All button located in the top right corner of your screen when in the podcast, but please note, this button is only available when you are viewing All of the available episodes as described in the step above.

Continuous play will only go between episodes of the current playlist, or the selected podcast if you're not playing from a playlist. Once it reaches the end of the current playlist or podcast, it doesn't go to another one.

If you've changed the Queue settings not to do that, you can replicate the original behavior by simply creating a new Smart Playlist and saving it without changing any of its settings. That will then automatically contain all unplayed episodes of all of your podcasts, which will continuously play from one episode to the next.

Be as specific as possible to avoid crawling more feeds than necessary. When a new episode is published, submit a request that covers only the single podcast that has a new episode, not every podcast on your platform.

This is a bit of a faff (as Don McAllister would say) and a locked episode has to be unlocked before you can delete them, but it does allow you to add specific episodes. Once we went through that exercise, I realized something. I usually only have one or two episodes of a given show downloaded on my phone anyway. So if I see an extra one after adding a podcast, Downcast actually lets me see what I want to delete. So Downcast actually does work well for Playlists.

Below that is New Smart Playlist. Those must be a feature people like, but I prefer to handcraft my playlists. In the upper right, next to the + button is a little icon of a square with some lines on it and a small plus button. This button lets you create a new playlist or a new smart playlist.

The other thing I liked in Overcast was that it let me import my podcasts from another podcatcher. They probably all have this but I never noticed it in the others. It gave me easy instructions on how to export from Pocket Casts or Downcast and then how to import. I did it from Pocket Casts and it worked perfectly.

In the general settings of Overcast, you can choose whether to download all new episodes and whether to have them deleted after you play them. In each podcast, you can choose how many unplayed episodes to keep, which is a great way to control the clutter.

Shortly after Steven pointed out this feature to me, Steve and I were listening to one of his supposedly professional shows, but had clearly not leveled their audio. I tapped that Voice Boost button and I was amazed at how well it worked. We actually would have stopped listening and instead it was very listenable with Voice Boost.

I use Downcast. it can also download all the episodes of a podcast at once. you go to the feed that you want to download and Double tap on the button that says show all episodes. You can then do a four finger single tap near the bottom and flick left until you get to download all episodes and double tap and an alert will appear which will ask you if you want to download all episodes. Press the download button and the App proceeds to download all episodes of the feed.

As nice as it would've been to have a reason to give Overcast a try, I'm glad that Downcast has this feature. It's such a feature-rich app that it surprised me that I couldn't find this feature, and I'm glad to know that it was just due to me only looking on the screen that shows the list of episodes when you subscribe to a podcast.

With the Overcast podcast app (from Marco Arment), is there a way to play episodes within a single podcast from oldest to newest? The default iOS podcast app does this, but I prefer the other features of Overcast. I just don't see any way to do this.

I was looking for this also and stumbled on a solution. In the podcast playlist, tap on the UNPLAYED or ALL toggle to reverse the sort order of the feed. So you would tap it once to sort episodes from oldest to newest, then episodes will play from the top of the feed i.e. Oldest to newest

As of today - Overcast users can create a new Playlist and include any (or all) podcasts. Within this new playlist they can sort and prioritize as they want. It took me less than a minute to set this up, after I did 30 minutes of research online. Am posting here in the hope to reduce the search time for others.

Starting with an import of my subscription from Overcast via the export/import OPML files in both apps, the Inbox in Castro was filled up with the most recent episodes of all my subscriptions. From there I started assigning each episode to either the top/bottom of the queue, or removing it from the list. This resulted in a pretty small queue, I think it was around 6 episodes, and my list would usually be around 20 in Overcast.

I can't count how many times I've opened an Overcast link on social media, switched over to Castro, searched for that podcast by name in the Castro "Discover" tab, then added the recommended episode to my Queue for listening later. An incredibly inefficient and annoying workflow.

I have no idea how either of these apps are generating their episode-specific URLs, but the URLs for the main feed of a podcast use the podcast's iTunes ID. The Overcast and Castro links for the Defocused main feed are and , respectively.

Since this shortcut only works on a podcast's main feed URL, not an episode specific URL, I still have to do some work to get the podcast episode into my Castro Queue. I have to open the Overcast link, tap on the name of the podcast at the top of the player to go to its main feed, run the shortcut, tap the "Open in Castro" button, tap the button that allows Safari to actually open Castro, then find and add the specific episode to my Queue.

Not ideal, but much more pleasant than manually searching for the name of the show. Especially if episode being shared by the Overcast user happens to be the most recent episode of the show since Castro loads with the Action buttons for that episode ready to tap.

Maybe one of these days I or, more likely, one of you much smarter people, will figure out how to translate episode specific URLs that open directly within Castro (or Overcast), avoiding all these Safari links as a bridge. Heck, while I'm wishing for unlikely things, maybe Castro will finally get timestamped URLs, too. One can dream, right?

So adding your image in the mp3 can be done in your audio editor typically. The problem though is that some hosts don't keep this meta data and strip it and put their own. My host Megaphone for example does not preserve the image I put in the mp3, they strip it out and put in the show's image instead. So this isn't an option for me. I've reached out to Megaphone, Pocket Casts, and Overcast to get them all to display my per episode artwork but it's been months and no change.

Add your per episode artwork in the RSS feed. Typically this is done by your hosting provider by uploading the artwork for the episode there. This should then show in the section and then with an tag after that identifying where the image should be.

This is a decision only you can make. There's no answer as to yes or no. I was inspired by the unique artwork that Criminal was making for each episode and that's why I did it. I've received a lot of compliments for my show's artwork which I guess means people like the show slightly better because of it. But most of the top podcasts don't do this and it's fine. They are still massively successful.

I think if you're going to have a website with your podcast it makes the website look much better with special artwork per episode. Otherwise the website becomes a bit repetitive showing the same artwork everywhere.

For every podcast I listen to, I keep a general show note about the series. The episode title stays as raw text, but gets linked to a reference note if I wind up taking a more detailed note after-the-fact.

Death Note is as big as anime itself. A show that has been famous for being likable, even for people that don't really watch anime, highly recommended for starters. When presentations are not needed it's time for talking specifics.

It's easy to remember the spectacular moments, the times either Light or L were cornered, the shocking reveals, however, there was one particular moment that didn't excel by its showmanship, but for its simplicity. Sometimes you don't need to put together a flashy display in order to evoke tension and thrill. That can even serve as a why to distinguish great writing from average.

The focus is on the seventh episode of the Death Note anime adaptation titled Overcast. It starts after the encounter between Naomi Misora, Raye Penber's fiance, and Light Yagami. This comes right after L introduced himself to the remaining members of the Japanese police force that he deemed loyal, for sticking to their tasks despite everything. Naomi, a former FBI agent that had actually worked with L in a case before, wanted to join the force and contact L after finding out about Raye's death, and in consequence, starting her own investigation. Her targets were within the few suspects he was following, and one of those was Light himself who she considered a top priority because someone with such a perfect life and behavior could only have something to hide. She was on point about her theories on how the rules to kill work for Kira.

With otherworldly luck, Light coincidentally runs into her while bringing something over to the police station. After failing on her attempt to get in contact with someone near L's circle, she starts walking back home, and Light, knowing that Naomi can pose a great threat to her plans, decides to walk with her trying to dispose of her as quickly as possible. While walking, he tries to start conversation with her with the objective of revealing her name. But she won't make it easy, giving him a fake name at first for Ryuk's amusement. 152ee80cbc
