This is the story of how an orthodox Christian group can, despite starting well, descend into a cult-like system if leadership is not held accountable.
It is in three sections, the first describing the church's origins and how dynamics present at the outset went unnoticed and unchallenged. The second demonstrates the steady slide into unhealthy doctrine and practice and the third shows how this eventually turned into full blown manipulation and abuse of members who raised concerns.
Under such circumstances it is impossible to remain in the group and leaving is accompanied by the huge injustice and pain of shunning.
Please note that the issues raised here are not primarily matters of dispute regarding church teaching.
If our difficulties were merely a matter of disagreement over doctrine, we could have graciously 'agreed to disagree', continuing to work together for the benefit of others.
