Evan Hardy Drama Club Trip

Dates for 2024: April 11 - 14, 2024

The goal of this trip is to provide exceptional learning experiences for students who are interested in the world of theatre; to learn how theatre is pursued beyond Saskatoon; to engage with theatre professionals across Canada; and to see how different artistic communities are responding to the world around them.

Vancouver is a major performing arts hub in Canada. We chose Vancouver after exhaustive research across Canada to see what live theatre options were available. Vancouver had the best options for the dates we chose to explore this opportunity.

This excursion should be treated the same as other Drama Club events we do in Saskatoon. We are planning to view 3 professional plays in the time we are in Vancouver (one play each day).

After each performance, we will find a nearby coffee shop, restaurant, park, or in the common area of our dorm rooms to discuss content, themes, and artistic choices of the play. These discussions will be led by groups of students who will have to prepare the discussion questions in advance (leading up to the trip).

We also plan on engaging in some tours of professional theatres, as well as one or two theatre workshops with some theatre professionals. We are going to aim for an acting workshop and a directing workshop.
