Foxtail Stables

Foxtail Stables is a paradise for equestrians and horses from the vast turnout options to the versatile arenas, and the state-of-the-art therapeutic barn. Horses and their caregivers will never want for anything.

While the pride and joy of the farm and facility owner is the horses and everything equestrian - a true passion is education and making horses accessible to everyone. Lessons are offered from the beginner's first ride to preparing for an elite show. Riders are expected to participate in horsemanship lessons and the care & keeping of the horses. With multiple disciplines offered, there are many opportunities to learn something new and become a well-rounded experienced rider. Clinics are held often with renown trainers from all backgrounds - there might be a cross country schooling clinic one weekend and a liberty training clinic the following. Foxtail Stables hosts many shows throughout the year - schooling to rated circuit shows; pleasure shows, eventing horse trials, hunter jumper shows, hunter paces, dressage, combined driving. As a nationally rated Pony Club center and host of a Pony Club - Foxtail Stables also hosts Pony Club rallies, ratings and events. FS works with the local Foxhunting Hunt Club and is a regular fixture.

The Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Program at Foxtail Stables is set up to offer the best care for treating and preventing equine injuries. The Therapeutic barn offers a comfortable setting for both the care provider and horse - with plenty of room and ease of access for service providers to see clients and preform services. Six box stalls allow for horses to be housed on short-term basis, while an additional stall is set up as an observation or procedure stall. A video surveillance allows barn staff and/or service providers to monitor the horses. The Therapeutic barn and offered amenities are not open to everyone -the trainer must sign off on the therapy and a certified technician must operate and supervise the therapy, including but not limited to the use of the Solar Lights, Theraplate, Equivibe, Treadmill, Laser Therapy, Massage Therapy and Swimming Pool. Haul-ins are allowed must be scheduled with the IPRP Team.

The Breeding Program at Foxtail Stables has a couple stallions standing for stud. Standing premier stallions for their breeds and discipline with talented offspring on site. Broodmares are quality horses with careers currently or previously in the show ring; they come from premium bloodlines and are premium rated for conformation and breed standards. The breeding program has state-of-the-art facilities and care for the stallions, broodmares and foals through all stages of reproduction. An onsite laboratory for collecting, assessing, and processing of semen and the facilities to artificially inseminate a mare within minutes or quickly package and ship to other facilities. Stallions are kept in a secure barn that has six large stalls with attached paddocks, individual turn out areas, and care amenities as well as a tack room. Well handled stallions are welcome to utilize all that Foxtail Stables offers or work within the secured perimeter of the Stallion Barn on the walking tracks.
Mares are housed with the general population of Foxtail Stables unless they are close to foaling or have a foal. Six large box stalls are offered with deep bedding with an attached paddock. There are six individual paddocks and three larger grass paddocks for turnout. Mares and foals are not permanently housed and may be turned out in a residential pasture or if weaned, given a stall in the main barn for training. On site housing is provided for care staff to monitor mares close to foaling, and those needing close observation. Each stall is set up with a video camera to offer unobtrusive monitoring.

Foxtail Stables does not allow for boarding horses or extended stay residents. Some horses may be in the small training program but the majority of the horses are privately owned by Foxtail Stables or the staff. The Training Program is run by the trainers and a by situation basis - past graduates have come from all walks of life and disciplines with various issues to be resolved such as rearing, bucking, green horse, overcoming fears and finding confidence. Having a close connection to the local veterinary network of professionals and a rehabilitation program, all training horses are evaluated for underlying issues to set them up for the best learning situation. Some horses are brought in from rescues like the Retired Racehorse Alliance or the local SPCA shelter. Occasionally trainers will take on trainer challenges or incentive programs for Mustangs and Racehorses. These horses will go through the Good Citizen program to make sure they are good partners and then found a suitable home.
