Welcome to Outdoor Learning Experiences! This site offers place-based educational resources for educators and families looking for innovative outdoor learning activities that can be conducted at school or home. We acknowledge that the land we live, learn, and play on is the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary homelands of the Anishinaabeg - the Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples and their many more-than-human relatives. This landscape lies within the ceded-territory homelands established by the Treaty of 1842 where 11 Lake Superior Bands of Ojibwa (Chippewa) retain rights and responsibilities.

This is a joint project between the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative, which is a collaboration of the Western UP MiSTEM Network and MTU’s Center for Science & Environmental Outreach and regional partners such as MTU's Great Lakes Research Center and REMC1 to connect schools and communities in the stewardship of Lake Superior and its Watershed.

Funding partially funded through MiSTEM Network Regional grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education, a NOAA B-Wet grant to the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative, REMC1, in kind contributions from the Copper Country ISD, and a NASA/Michigan Space Grant Consortium to the Copper Country ISD.
