We meet at the Wyoming Food for Thought Project at 900 St. John St in North Casper.
Please consider a small donation (they also take food for their Totes for Hope project!) to our gracious meeting hosts to help defray their energy costs in hosting us and just to say thanks! Be sure to tell them you're with us when you donate!
Directions: Take Center north to North Casper. Turn right on "H" Street. Turn left on Saint John Street. Park behind the former church and enter through the rear green door.
A few churches had offered us meeting space. We discussed the prospect and discovered it was important to our group to find a secular space that was not associated with any church or denomination as many of our members identify as non-religious, agnostic, atheist, pagan or generally other than mainline Christian. We as a group believe strongly in church-state separation.
Why then would our group choose a former church as its meeting place?
We were bursting at the seams as our little group grows, our homes were getting too cramped, and we tired of burdening members who opened their homes for meetings. The Natrona County Public Library's Crawford Room is in high demand, the school district has an expensive, time-consuming, and cumbersome process for community groups to rent/use public space, and we needed somewhere to meet that was big enough to host our growing group.
When our friends at the Immigration Alliance of Casper held an event there, whose projects we wholeheartedly support, we inquired of their magnanimous host. They were glad to host us without cost as so doing falls within their mission to build community.
We're indebted to them for giving us a regular home! It costs them money to keep the space heated in the winter and cool in the summer, so we pass the hat at our meetings to thank them, so please bring a few dollars cash. Did we mention you should donate to them? Please just be sure to tell them you're with us and donating as a member so they know how appreciative we are!
