On the day of our announcement at Connect 2021, we activated a rapid response strategy across social media to engage with our audiences where conversations about us—and the metaverse—were happening
First, we partnered with parody logo redesigner Emily Zugay to put her own twist on our new brand mark, while Oneya D'Amelio (aka Angry Reactions) followed up our keynote with his signature grumpy-faced words of encouragement. Then, physical comedian Khaby Lame took his followers on a journey across the metaverse by teleporting himself into footage from the Connect keynote and beyond.

At the same time, we wrote and designed witty real-time replies to dozens of unexpected brands, public figures, and everyday folks who reacted to our new name and brand. Accounts like Wendy’s, Hulu, 7Eleven, Budweiser, and even Ryan Reynolds got in on the fun of the metaverse, helping us organically amplify the news about our rebrand—and take a confident new step for our social media voice and tone.
