I watched this webinar about Data Centers from Catholic Climate Covenant, and I found it very informative.
"Action of the month: Watch the recording of our Data Center webinar!"
"Artificial intelligence surrounds us these days. Its growing use is driving a huge expansion of data center construction and siting in communities around the United States. These warehouse-sized facilities are essential for powering artificial intelligence, and they require massive amounts of energy and water to function.
The Covenant’s March webinar on data centers hosted several impressive panelists, and caught media attention in these articles published by OSV News, Detroit Catholic, and The Record.
Learn more about their environmental impact by watching the recording of our latest webinar below."
I will also post this on my website, Our Common Home. The link is in the comments.

Need some good news? Here is Earthjustice with their March Victory Report:
"Victory for Clean Air in New York
This week, a federal court rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to wipe out New York City’s proven-successful congestion pricing program to reduce traffic and improve clean air.
Represented by Earthjustice, Riders Alliance and Sierra Club filed a lawsuit joining the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) as interveners last year.
“This is a huge win for New Yorkers and for our democracy,” said Dror Ladin, Senior Attorney at Earthjustice, “the court confirmed today that Trump has no power to override the democratic process that brought us congestion pricing. It remains very much alive, and is delivering great results for our air, our streets, our public transit, and our climate.”
Despite criticism from President Trump, who has called the toll “a disaster for New York,” congestion pricing continues to prove the opposite: cleaner air, faster travel, stronger transit, and a thriving business district."
My Dad was from Rochester, NY, as were my grandparents, and my parents met there when my Mom went there to attend Dental Hygienist School. I visited Rochester every year when I was growing up, and we visited about 10 years ago, so I was interested in this article when I saw it in Sierra!

I read this article in Sierra Magazine recently, and was shocked and saddened, even though I already knew that the oil and gas companies were dirty businesses. Their dangers are even worse than I thought.

June 1st was the start of Hurricane Season. Tonight on the news there were stories about flash floods and tornados in St. Louis, dust storms, smoke from Canadian wildfires, severe storms and flooding in the Midwest, and record breaking piles of seaweed covering beaches in the Caribbean. I thought it might be a good time for this article I found from 2 years ago in the "archives."

It may be hard to focus on any one thing at this point, but sometimes it's a good idea to take step back. This article is from Sierra's Winter issue, which came out in December. The recent issue of Sierra wasn't only about energy. Here is an article about the workers who pick our vegetables, and how working in hotter temperatures affects them:
"Extreme Heat Fueled by
Climate Change
Punishes Outdoor Workers
As the federal government pushes for national heat protections, some states resist badly needed safety rules."
Will the new administration push for heat protections?
I got this in my inbox from Catholic Climate Covenant:
"As we celebrate National Native American Heritage Month this November, we are invited to reflect on the deep spiritual and cultural wisdom of Native American communities and the profound relationship they share with the land, water, and all of creation. This month is an opportunity to not only honor the contributions of Native Americans to our society but also to recognize the ongoing struggles for environmental justice and reconciliation that many Native communities face."
I enjoyed reading this article from The Washington Post that I found in my e-mail courtesy of One5C. We visited the remote northern Alaska areas of the Brooks Range a dozen years ago, and found it beautiful and otherworldly. It was strange to be in a place so remote and nearly uninhabited. The photos are great, too.

I felt it was time to go back into the archives and do a little housekeeping! I found this article about "climate receiver cities" from Sierra, that I felt went pretty well with an article I recently posted!

I received this email from Catholic Climate Covenant today. It's about workers' rights in a world that is heating up. With so much "weather" going on around the country, you may have missed some of the extreme temperatures in the Southwest. Of course, the overheated gulf has created several hurricanes, and even where I am, it's unseasonably warm for October.
