My city's sustainability division discussed the possibility of raising money this way for meeting our needs, and gave the Finger Lakes Climate Fund as an example of how it can be achieved. Does it sound like something your community could do? Take a look at their website and watch their video- it's an interesting concept- and it works for them.

Have you heard of a Carbon Footprint Calculator? It's not something you have to buy, Thank God! It's a way to calculate how much carbon you put into the atmosphere by your normal daily activities. Then you can compare it with others to see how you're doing, and more importantly, where you need to improve or make changes. You can find them on the internet, but here is one I found on the US EPA website:
