La District is located in the Northeast of the province, about 28 Km far from Xay town, it covers an area of 1.753 Square Kilometers. La is a small and beautiful  district, which attached along the Namphak River.  It's famous for Phasingkham Buddha Temple, trekking and Akha ethnic group. Furthermore, it's a favorite location of Mr. Jeo Cumins, author of the lonely planet guide book. 

Even from the past until now, there's no bus station in La district. Visitors can only take or catch the bus to or from Phongsaly province and Khoua district. If visitors who want to go the La district can take a bus at the bus station in Xay town or another option is to hire a Tuk Tuk to take you there (The Tuk Tuk service cost is negotiable).
