Oudom Hean

About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Finance at North Dakota State University and a faculty scholar at the Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth.

I am an applied economist whose interests lie at the intersection of regional economics, urban economics, and public economics. My current research focuses on the causes and consequences of diverging economic growth across urban and rural areas. I am particularly interested in innovation, minimum wage, and offshoring.

I received the North Dakota State University Waldron Excellence in Research Award in 2024 and the NDSU College of Business's Research Award in 2023. Additionally, I also received the Department of Finance Research Award in 2024.
