Time Square's Recent Expansion

In 2010, Time Square embarked on a seven year reconstruct project that added two and a half acres to the crux of Manhattan. The space was designed for pedestrian-trafic specifically, and has smoothened the flow of foot traffic from business to business as people tour the area. Prior to the construction there was extreme congestion of people and cars trying to manuver through the area. Since then, buldings have been rearranged into plazas that are not only good for public saftey but reduce air pollution as well. Pictured on the left are two sets of before and after pictures of the construction as presented by, Snohetta.(2)
