Karen has been an OT for over 20 years and has worked in a variety of settings, including physical and mental health and both hospital-based and community-based practice settings.   She is an associate professor in the occupational therapy program at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio where she primarily does research. Through her research, she works with undergraduate students, prison populations, and consults for various therapy-driven initiatives.   

As an OT educator, she has developed numerous courses. She currently offers OT services to struggling students at Cleveland State University.  She provides in class and virtual occupational therapy services.  She has developed occupational therapy service learning experiences in both the correctional system, with undergraduate students, and community-based services in Navajo nation.
