Delft 2023

Intro: Nice to meet you!

Hello! My name is Angela Chisa, and I go by AJ! I'm from Olympia, Washington, and I am a third-year CE student at Oregon State. I'm currently working full-time at an internship, but I'll be back at school in the fall for my fourth year! I love to read (sci-fi and fantasy) and am currently teaching myself how to play the guitar too!

I'm currently working for David Evans and Associates on their Bridges and Structures group! I've worked a lot on bridge inspections, which involves going out into the field and marking up a bridge report with any new changes to the structure! Pictured to the right is me on I-5 Southbound, which was closed for us to inspect!

This trip is very important to me as it has several ties to my life. Naturally, it connects to my love for sustainable civil engineering, and I'm looking forward to learning more about the process and mindset of a Dutch engineer!

More importantly, I have very strong familial ties to the Netherlands. My grandfather grew up in the Netherlands before immigrating to the US during WW2. I've always wanted to visit the country and reconnect with that part of my family, and I'm grateful I have this opportunity. Unfortunately, my grandpa didn't pass down the Dutch language, but I've been learning recently so I hope to know enough to be respectful and get by.
