Shalini Abayasekara
Hi everyone! My name is Shalini Abayasekara and this fall I’ll be starting my third year as a PhD student in the Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacy program of the Department of English. I have a deep interest in the rhetoric of health and medicine and in disability studies, and am especially interested in exploring the intersections between language and mental illness/health. Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, and enjoy reading, singing, swimming, and watching (some!) movies and TV series.
Abhishek Appana
Hello! My name is Abhishek Appana, and I am pursuing my PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Center for Automotive Research. My research involves using experimental studies and simulations to improve physics-based models of Lithium-ion batteries. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring places, running, playing games, and chilling out with friends!
Latisha Simon
Latisha is on staff with InterVarsity and has been with CGSA for two years. Latisha leads our Black Scholars and Professionals group, which meets weekly. She also ministers at her local church, where she leads several creative ministries. Latisha is happily married with a son and daughter who are young adults now, and she is happiest when their family is all together.
Timothy Corrigan
Timothy is on staff with InterVarsity and has been with CGSA for 5 years. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and has several years of experience in industry, government labs, and academia. He is married with 3 kids. He enjoys talking about out-of-the-box questions.
