Little Lutherans
Birth to 3-year-old children (not yet in Sunday School)
Little Lutherans is an opportunity for those who aren't in Sunday School yet (and their parents or guardians) to join us one Sunday a month for story time to hear the stories of the Bible and faith in an age-appropriate format. This group will gather after Family Connect in the Fireside Room at 10:30

Cradle Roll
Cradle Roll
3-year-old children (or entering Sunday School as preschoolers)
Cradle Roll is a special event where we welcome our youngest students to our Sunday school program. We invite 3-year-olds (or those starting Preschool Sunday School) and their parents or guardians for a special welcome during worship in September and present them with a Bible. After worship, we invite you for a building tour, story time, and a snack.

Preschool (3 year olds) - 4th Grade
We offer Sunday school for preschoolers (3-year-olds) through 4th grade on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:00 am. Our Sunday school hour starts with music time in the sanctuary at 10:15 for all ages. After music, students are dismissed to their classrooms for a time of learning, fun, and faith by grade.
Special Events:
Rally Sunday: Join us as we kick off the fall season and Sunday School at Our Savior's. We start with worship at 10 am. After worship, Sunday School families are invited to an orientation where you will meet your teachers and see your classroom. We wrap up the morning with lunch and games in the yard. In 2026, Rally Sunday is on September 13.
3rd Grade Bibles: Our 3rd grade students receive their Bibles in worship and then participate in a class with a parent or guardian following worship. In the class, students learn about their Bible, learn how to read it, and have a time for families to share passages that are important to them. 3rd grade Bible presentation and class is on October 11, 2026.
First Communion: Currently, we celebrate First Communion with our 3rd and 4th grade students. There are sessions in Fall and Spring – you can choose the dates that work best for your family. We ask that at least one adult attend the class with their student. During the class, a week before the celebration, students learn about the gift of Holy Communion, the real presence of Christ, and what it means to be Christ in the world to others. If you have younger children interested in participating in communion class, please reach out to Pastor Ali.

5th-9th Grade Confirmation
5th-9th Grade Confirmation
Confirmation, at its core, is not something that the church does to or for youth. Confirmation is something that youth do for themselves; it is their chance to stand up and say, "This is what I believe" and affirm God's "yes" to them as they are taught the faith (the definition of confirmation). In this 5 year format (grades 5-9) of large group lessons and small group discussions, students will learn more about Scripture, the Triune God, the basics of Lutheranism and our catechism, as well as what it looks like to live out our faith in worship, service, and community while exploring topics and questions that encourage deepening our faith and articulating what they believe.
Youth have their Affirmation of Baptism in 10th grade on Reformation Sunday.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

(3-year-olds through just completed 5th grade)
Vacation Bible School is arguably the best week of the summer! We have an evening VBS program here at OSLC where kids get to sing songs, learn more about Bible stories and characters from the Bible, eat a delicious snack, play games, and do an art or science project each night. Youth in grades 6 and up are welcome to be small group leaders for the younger kids. It is an energetic, joy-filled week!

2027 ELCA Youth Gathering
2027 ELCA Youth Gathering
(9th-12th grade)
Every three years, thousands of high school youth and their adult leaders from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service, and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives. The 2027 Gathering will be held in Minneapolis, June 28-July 2, and will open to youth in grades 8th-12th during the 2026-2027 school year. An informational meeting will be held in early September at Our Savior's for youth and their parents. For more information, check out the gathering website.
