Engaging panel discussion on Oberlin's financial practices as well as a brainstorming session for the future of community organizing on campus, rooted in our radical history.

Based on a 2022 report conducted by the Labor Institute, SLAC's exhibit contained firsthand accounts of the experiences and effects of the 2020 mass layoff at Oberlin. It also commemorated the organizing efforts that emerged in response, as well as archives highlighting the College's financialization practices since the 1990s.

Oberlin students, faculty and staff mobilized in the Fall of 2022 following the Board of Trustees' decision to amend the college bylawys and the Finney Compact, significantly reducing the agency of faculty in matters of College operations - fundamentally altering a unique and cherished component of Oberlin education. These days of action included a teach-in as well as an occupation of Mudd and a conversation with administrators and trustees.
