9 months 9 days before leaving his body Osho created this amazing meditation. It is an opportunity to get together dance, celebrate & meditate at the same time. There are series of activities that take place in this meditation that includes dancing, sitting silently, listening to Osho, gibberish, let go & celebration. Listening to Osho in this evening meeting meditation is very therapeutic & it helps in breaking your old belief systems that may be bringing pain in life. It is amazing way to experiencing silence through words.

Dancing: In this stage start dancing with your totality. Do not look around or see what others are doing, the more total & intense you will be, the deeper silence you may experience. There will be high energy music, so do not stop for these 15 minutes, just put everything at stake & dance. During this dance there will pause for 3-4 times, whenever there is a pause in the music just stop & shout the word OSHO raising your arms up in the air. The sound should come from the center of your being, just 2 inches below your navel. Let this sound come like a roar & continue dancing as the music continue. At the end of the 15 minutes there will be 3 continuous shouts of OSHO before we will enter into the next stage.

Sitting: In this stage sit comfortably while keeping your eyes closed & start listening to the music. This stage will end when there will be 3 drum beats. Just remain still & watch whatever is happening inside your body mind.

Sitting or Lying Down:  In this stage Osho video discourse will be played. You need to listen keeping the listener also in your awareness while listening to Osho. Osho says that ordinarily our listening is one pointed, whenever we are listening to anybody speaking, we completely forget ourselves, the listener. In this stage you need to continuously be aware of the listener as well. Do not get lost in listening. This is the technique of Self Remembering used by George Gurdjieff is a Russian mystic. Osho has talked a lot about him in his discourses.

So in this stage the listening has to be arrowed double sided pointed. Towards listening to Osho & your own self, continue watching whatever is happening inside your body mind while listening to Osho.

Sitting & Gibberish:  In this stage as you hear the drum beat, start speaking in the language you do not know. Start in any language that you are not familiar with & express everything that you could not express because of society, culture or religion. Anything that has been on your mind & is been bothering you. Just express yourself fully, if any emotion comes like, anger, laughter, sadness or rage let it come. Throw out all the rubbish that you been holding inside your mind. It is one of the most amazing ways of cleansing the mind & experiencing the silence of meditation.

Freeze & Letting Go: In this stage as you would hear the drum beat, get frozen & on another drum beat, just fall free on the floor. Do not prepare yourself for this fall. Just let yourself completely loose as if it the last moment of your life & you are dead. Let the body lie down on the floor but you remain as a watcher, watching the body lying & the mind with it.

Sitting: In this stage you would hear another drum beat & this is a signal to come back into the body again, but this time it is a resurrection. It is new you who has come inside the body with watchfulness & alertness. Remain still for few minutes, do not move your body.

Dancing: This will be the last stage with a shout of OSHO, dance & enjoy at this point. Let the body move gracefully & lovingly. Osho says there is a reason why I end this meditation with dance. Celebration & dance should be part of our entire life. Also dancing & celebration bring an alive silence into the life. It is not a dead silence of the graveyard. This silence is alive & joyous.

Osho is a mystic, a cosmic joker who brought us OSHO Active Meditations. These meditations are designed for the modern man and woman. Osho understood that we struggle to sit in silence as the busyness of our lives today makes it harder to be silent and still. He created them in such a way that we do an activity first before falling into silence.

With this in mind, Osho scientifically developed the OSHO Active meditations. The most well-known and impactful of these is the OSHO Dynamic Meditation, followed by the sister meditation, OSHO Kundalini Meditation. He created many more that you can access complete with instructions and links to the music.

Towards the end of his life, he created the Osho Evening Meeting, which for me is the diamond of all his meditations. We come together in dance, celebration, and silence. He reminds us to carry the Buddha within us 24 hours a day, every day. 


It is shared every evening at 7pm local time through iOsho. On the evening meeting Osho says:

I started visiting the OSHO International Meditation Resort in Pune in the year 2003 when I was a writer with the Pune Times of India. My editor often sent me to this beautiful place to interview artists who visited from all over the world. I remember meeting talented artists and relaxing in the peaceful environs of this fascinating resort.

The OSHO International Meditation Resort has several international travellers visiting frequently from over 180 countries all around the world. Osho created interesting and creative meditation techniques which involved dancing, whirling and gibberish and work really well with most followers.

After one has relaxed through a wide variety of meditations, evenings include exciting activities such as dancing, watching or being a part of interesting events such as the DJ party and the tea event which I witnessed while I was there.

The resort offers various residential courses for those who have the time and interest. These courses can be for a week, two weeks or a month. There is enough to keep one occupied such as a spa, a Jacuzzi, a tennis court and a beautiful swimming pool. The Osho Multiversity is beautifully designed with white marble pathways, elegant black buildings, so much of greenery all around and beautiful water bodies add to the charm.

During my stay I was delighted to notice a beautiful peacock enjoying the pleasant weather at the resort. Another aspect of the resort that always fascinates me is the mesmerizing Buddha statues located in so many corners of the resort, Zorba the Buddha is someone who was always grounded and yet whose hands can reach for the stars.

Osho Guesthouse is a beautiful place to stay for visitors to the Meditation Resort. The tastefully modern, silent rooms have double beds, air conditioners, fresh air supply and attached bathrooms. Some of them are designed to accommodate people with physical limitations, including wheelchair friendly rooms and bathrooms. The guesthouse is located very close to the Auditorium, which makes it very easy for visitors to go for all the meditations. There are 7, 14 and 30-day residential courses and comfortable rooms that have to be booked independently from the courses available here.

After the registration process was completed, I went to the gallery with Ma Sadhana to pick up the two robes that I had to wear during my time at the resort. While inside the resort, one has to wear a maroon robe in the daytime and a white robe for the evening meditation which can be bought from the gallery. Even the swimwear and the gym clothes or stoles, shawls have to be either maroon or white during your time at the resort.

After the welcome morning orientation, I went to The Plaza for a cup of tea and enjoyed a delicious samosa which is one of their specialities. I have always been fascinated with the food served and the way it is served at The Osho Meditation Resort, one has to collect coupons at the welcome centre and redeem it for food at Meera which serves lunch, Plaza which is like a caf and Zorba which serves breakfast and dinner and is also open for evening tea. Plaza serves excellent aloo parathas as I discovered one evening when Ma Sadhana ordered one for me.

The daily meditation schedule consists of 12 active and passive meditations a day from 6 am to 10.30 pm. On arrival, the Welcome Centre guides you for the registration procedure and for participation in the activities while you are at the resort. The main centre for meditation and the evening meditations is the Osho Auditorium. The Osho Chuang Tzu, which is the samadhi, is also open for silent meditation.

In my experience, the Osho Evening Meeting is a unique experience, one that I have experienced only at the OSHO International Meditation Resort. The fact that everyone is dressed in white robes, the high energy music that creates such a beautiful ambience, the way the auditorium is constructed, the way everyone chants Osho together, the silent sitting and the recorded discourses by Osho later, everything adds together to create an atmosphere of positivity and high energy which immediately uplifts everyone. This is an ethereal experience which I look forward to every time I visit this beautiful resort.
