This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you use Award Expert, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using our app, you agree to this policy.
We collect your email, name, and the posts/predictions you make. Other users can see your posts and predictions.
We may quote your content in our Award Expert entertainment articles. You can opt out of media coverage in the app settings, where we won't quote your posts in our media coverage, or delete your account anytime.
Email address - Required to create and access your account
Name - For your profile and identification
Profile photos - Images you choose to upload
Posts and predictions - Content you create about awards and entertainment
Comments - Your responses to other users' content
Account preferences - Settings and choices you make in the app
Usage data - Which features you use, how long you spend in the app, and what content you view
Device information - Your device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers for app functionality
Device permissions - Camera and photo library access when you choose to upload profile pictures
App performance data - Crash reports and technical diagnostics to help us fix problems
Push notification tokens - To send you app notifications and updatesÂ
If you sign in using Google, we receive:
Your name and email address from that platform
If you sign in using Apple, we receive:
Your email address (or anonymous relay email if you choose to hide your real email)
Account management - Creating and maintaining your user account (emails provide a unique identifier so duplicate accounts can't be created, as well as a way to verify your ownership of the account)
Social features - Displaying your posts, predictions, and profile to other users
Friend connections - Helping you find and follow other users
Communication - Sending you important account notifications and customer support responses (we don't send marketing emails)
We operate an entertainment media website that covers awards season (as of August 4, 2025, this is not yet active, but will be soon). Your posts, predictions, and comments may be quoted or referenced in our articles (unless you've opted out in your app settings). This includes:
Quoting your predictions and commentary in news articles
Featuring trending discussions from the app
Using aggregate data about user predictions for reporting
Generally attributing quotes to your username, but sometimes using them anonymously
You retain ownership of your content, but by posting, you give us permission to quote it in our media coverage.
Analytics - Understanding how users engage with different features
Product development - Identifying what new features to build
Performance optimization - Making the app faster and more reliable
Security - Detecting and preventing fraud or abuse
Note: We don't use your email for marketing, but may use it for customer support communications.
Your posts and predictions are visible to other users as part of the app's social features
Your profile information (name, photo, bio) is visible to other users
Your activity (like which predictions you've made) may be visible to users who follow you
Your content may be quoted in articles on our entertainment website (unless you've opted out)
Attribution will typically include your username, but may be anonymous depending on editorial context
No additional personal information (like email) is shared in media coverage
Other media outlets may also quote your public posts independently - this is standard practice for public social media content
We share limited information with companies that help us operate the app:
Cloud hosting providers (to store app data)
Analytics services (to understand app usage)
Email services (to send notifications)
Customer support tools (to help answer your questions)
These providers are contractually required to protect your information and can only use it for the specific services they provide us.
We may disclose your information if required by law, including:
Valid court orders or subpoenas
Government agency requests (when legally required)
To prevent fraud or protect user safety
To protect our legal rights and property
If we sell the company, merge with another company, or undergo similar business changes, your information may be transferred to the new owners. You'll be notified before this happens and before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Opt out - Turn off media coverage in your app settings to prevent future quotes from Award Expert media
Attribution preferences - Contact support@oscarexpert.com to request anonymous attribution for future quotes
Already published content - Content already quoted cannot be removed, but opting out prevents future quotes. You can request removal via support@oscarexpert.com, but removal of content is not guaranteed.
Note: Other media outlets may still quote your public posts independently, as this is standard practice for public social media content.
Update information - Change your profile, email, or other account details anytime
Download your data - Request a copy of all information we have about you
Delete your account - Make your profile, posts, and comments undiscoverable to other users. Your predictions and lists remain visible to preserve platform integrity. Data is retained for account recovery.
Control notifications - Choose which in-app notifications you receive (we don't send marketing emails to your email address)
Published media coverage cannot be retroactively removed, but you can request removal from specific articles at support@oscarexpert.com
Legal obligations may require us to retain certain information even after deletion requests
We use standard security practices including secure hosting, encrypted connections, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
Data Retention
Account information is kept indefinitely, even after account deletion, for account recovery
Content quoted in media may be retained indefinitely as part of our editorial archive
Legal compliance may require longer retention in some cases
Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your country. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international transfers.
Our app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do:
We'll send you a notification with a link to the new policy in the in-app notifications section
We'll update the policy here on the website
The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised
Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the new policy
You have the right to:
Know what personal information we collect and how we use it
Delete your personal information (with certain exceptions)
Opt out of the "sale" of personal information (we don't sell your info)
Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
