Teachers Brankica Vrbat and Marija Samardžić participated in courses organized by the agency ELA (Erasmus Learning Academy) in Tenerife, Spain.
Both courses took place from April 7th to April 13th, 2024. The courses "Making the most of new technologies, apps, and social media in the classroom" (Brankica Vrbat) and "Discover the best apps and tools for e-learning, distance learning, and web design" (Marija Samardžić) focused on practical applications of digital tools.
Our project has one of three key objectives: to improve the ICT competencies of all participants in the educational process at our school. In line with this, teachers from our school, Brankica Vrbat and Marija Samardžić, participated in courses organized by the ELA agency (Erasmus Learning Academy) in Tenerife, Spain. The courses "Making the most of new technologies, apps, and social media in the classroom" (Brankica Vrbat) and "Discover the best apps and tools for e-learning, distance learning, and web design" (Marija Samardžić) focused on practical applications of digital tools.
The advantages of using these tools include adapting teaching materials to students' needs, tracking progress, and evaluating achievements based on digital data. The courses lasted for 7 days (April 7th to 13th) with a total of 35 hours of work on applications and programs. In addition to work, we spent time exploring the island together with other participants from Norway, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, and Germany. We got to know the city of Puerto de la Cruz where we stayed, as well as the beautiful volcanic mountain Teide (3718 m) during a trip to Teide National Park.
In Tenerife, we worked outdoors even in pleasant temperatures, using tools like Actionbound, which showed that it is possible to combine technology and outdoor learning. The last day of the course was marked by an evaluation of the tools and a creative activity of designing our own tools for work/teaching. Participants received certificates, and we celebrated the end of the course with a pleasant gathering at a joint dinner.
We returned to Zagreb with the aim of applying the acquired knowledge in teaching and intending to share experiences with colleagues.
The list of digital tools we learned to use includes:
FigJam, Padlet, Canva, Lingoclip, Monkey QR, Baamboozle, Mentimeter, TED-Ed, Gartic Phone, Actionbound, Wordle, Genially, JeopardyLabs, Socrative, and website creation on Google Sites and Weebly.
