The historic Village Chapel (top left image) was established in 1898 and the current 100-year-old chapel is on the National Register of Historic Places. Rev. Dr. Ashley Neil Smith is senior pastor and graciously hosts Orthodox Pinehurst services in the Chapel's "Heritage Hall."
Pinehurst, North Carolina, is a historic village renowned for its deep ties to golf and its charming ambiance. Founded in 1895 by Boston philanthropist James Walker Tufts, Pinehurst was envisioned as a health resort and was masterfully designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect behind New York’s Central Park.
The village quickly became synonymous with golf, especially after the establishment of Pinehurst No. 2, a course designed by Donald Ross that has hosted multiple U.S. Open Championships. Beyond its legendary fairways, Pinehurst boasts a picturesque downtown filled with boutique shops, local eateries, and historic architecture, offering visitors a delightful stroll through its storied streets.
Located approximately 70 miles southwest of Raleigh and about 90 miles east of Charlotte, Pinehurst combines small-town charm with accessibility to North Carolina's major urban centers.
