Cheetah risk analysis

In this project, I wanted to do a risk analysis in the Southern African distribution of cheetah, my goal was to identify risk factors that pose a threat to the species and map them in the area. I selected five risk factors based on articles: overlapping areas with lions, population growth, city size, land cover, and distance from protected areas.

I reclassified all the factors to risk classes: 0 - 4 (0 - no risk, 4 - high risk). Every layer had a unique specification based on how they caused a risk to cheetahs (e.g. as for city size, the bigger it is the bigger the threat). All the factors were then rasterized to a 900-meter resolution grid.

The next step was to calculate weights for each risk factor, I used the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for this. Then, using the Raster Calculator to combine the weighted risk factor layers, I created a final risk map.
