🌟Mrs. Orsini's Class🌟
Welcome to Our Kindergarten Classroom
Our class is a warm, welcoming, and engaging space where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day. I believe that when children feel comfortable and happy, they can truly thrive—both academically and socially.
We start every morning with a, "How are we feeling today?" check in at the door and a Morning Meeting to build community, practice social skills, and set a positive tone for the day. This special time helps students feel connected, heard, and ready to learn.
Our classroom is full of opportunities for hands-on learning, movement, creativity, and fun. I love incorporating brain breaks throughout the day to keep students energized and focused. Whether it’s a quick stretch, a silly dance, or a movement game, these little breaks help us recharge so we’re ready to learn!
To help students stay fueled and focused, I encourage them to bring a healthy snack each day. They are also welcome to bring water in preferably a spill-proof bottle so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. LES offers school breakfast for those who choose to take part in the program, and school lunch daily. Of course, students are also welcome to pack their own lunch if they prefer.
A Love for Reading
Reading is at the heart of our classroom! We have a library full of books for students to explore, with stories to match every interest. I want my students to discover the joy of reading, so we make time every day for independent, partner, or group reading.
Learning Together
Our academics are interactive, engaging, and designed to spark curiosity. We learn through songs, games, hands-on activities, and group projects so that students stay excited about what they’re discovering.
Behavior & Rewards
I believe in encouraging positive behavior with consistent, motivating incentives.Â
Personal Sticker Charts – Each student keeps a sticker chart in their folder. If they follow classroom rules and do not need more than two reminders in a day, they earn a sticker.
Prize Cart Fridays – When a student earns five stickers in a row, they get to choose something special from the prize cart! They can also save 10 stickers for a larger prize!
Team Tables – Students work together at their table groups to earn points for teamwork and good behavior. Â
Whole-Class Rewards – We celebrate as a class when we meet group goals, like walking nicely in the hallways.
Reading Goals – We track how many books we’ve read as a class and celebrate when we reach a milestone!
Class Kindness Jar – As a class, we work together to fill our kindness jar by noticing and celebrating kind acts throughout the day.
Bucket Filler Activity – Following our reading of Have You Filled a Bucket Today?, each student will have a small bucket hung on the wall in our classroom. When someone is caught doing something kind or helpful for a classmate, others can add a pom-pom to their bucket. This activity helps us focus on kindness, empathy, and building each other up.
Students will be celebrated on their birthdays and given a special gift bag from me! We will sing as a whole class and celebrate with a special treat if you choose to send one in. Please make sure the treat is store bought and has a list of the ingredients on the label. If invitations are being given out the entire class must be invited.🥳
