Dreamplex’s efforts to establish adaptive sports opportunities in 2019 included the start of wheelchair basketball activities. Initially, a series of clinics were offered in the Orlando area to help children with disabilities learn the game of wheelchair basketball, enhance their skills, and have fun. Since 2022, Dreamplex has been fortunate to work with Correy Rossi who actively plays professionally in Europe and has played on Team USA’s wheelchair basketball team. In 2023, our youth were able to practice most weeks at Saturday morning clinics to gain experience, participate in drills, and scrimmage with one another. Dreamplex also encouraged collaboration with the Orlando Magic Wheels adult team and the OCPS Wheelcats team so that our players could practice more. In September 2023, a group of youth consistently attending practices formed the Orlando Magic Dreamers.
Correy Rossi's involvement with our youth wheelchair basketball team has made a tremendous impact on our youth. He coaches the kids during his off season and plays the sport professionally in Europe. He's played for the University of Illinois and has played with Team USA. Correy's an amazing role model for our kids and inspires them all to be better players and individuals.
The Junior Prep Division provides the opportunity for all players age 13 and under to experience the sport of wheelchair basketball using a basket height of 8.5 feet.
The Junior 10 foot (Varsity) Division uses full size basketball courts and hoops. This level typically introduces advanced skills to the athletes. Athletes are eligible to a maximum age and must be in school.
Practices are on most Saturday mornings during the season at the address below:
Real Life Church-SoDo
2565 E Kaley Ave.
Orlando, FL 32806
We encourage players sign up to join the team to attend practices. If you're unsure or have questions you can contact us ahead of time and even meet during a practice to try or observe.
