On the traces of the origins of life: from the laboratory to space exploration
Man has always been fascinated by the mystery of the origins of life. Only recently, these questions have become the subject of important scientific investigations based on a strong interdisciplinarity. The chemical evolution of the Earth and the subsequent origin of the first living structures are among the most fascinating and controversial issues in contemporary science. There are many proposals for the abiogenesis of the fundamental molecules underlying life as we know it, which are supported by a plethora of empirical data both exogenous (space dust, meteorites and comets) and endogenous (hydrothermal vents, atmosphere and hot ponds). In Messina, on Wednesday May 31th 2023 at the Institute for Chemical-Physical Processes of the National Research Council, in an informal and convivial atmosphere with the presence of experts in the sector, the centenary of our institution will be celebrated with a Study Day entitled " On the traces of the origins of life: from the laboratory to space exploration”.
