DJ is a Rescue Captain with over two decades experience with the Austin Fire Department. He is the Chair of the technical rescue committee within the ReSET training programs in Central Texas. During his career he has served as the South-Central Region Coordinator for the National Cave Rescue Commission, a SPRAT Level 3 supervisor, TX-TF1 HSART technician, and HSART Rescue Team Manager. DJ brings real world rescue experience from caves to UH-60 airframes and most everything in between. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and practical approach, towards special operations helps guide his instructional style. DJ resides in San Marcos, TX with his wife Berta.

DJ started Origin Rigging to allow him to share his passion of rope-work. In addition teaching under the Origin Rigging banner, DJ regularly partners with other trainers and manufacturers as an instructor and consultant.
