Portfolio Overview

Welcome to the Organic Primary Production Crop Programme. 

This is your ePortfolio for the course  which will be used to record your activities and assessments. If you have never used Google Sites before, do not worry. It is very easy to use and help is always available from your tutors and staff here at WITT.

The ePortfolio is a record unique to you, so you are encouraged to make it your own. If you wish to change headings, pictures, font colours or add additional pages please do. There are some key requirements around assessment for the course that must be included.

Your ePortfolio will also act as a valuable resource once you finish the course for future use.

You are studying for the New Zealand Certificate in Organic Primary Production (Level 4) (Crop Production)

Graduate Profile:

Graduates of the qualification will be able to implement and monitor a production plan for an organic crop production operation to comply with organic standards compliance requirements

Assessment:

The assessment of your ePortfolio  covers practical and theoretical components that all learners must complete and submit evidence for.

The ePortfolio is assessed four times during the course, on set dates as shown on the System Evaluation page to reflect the variety of tasks across the growing season. This is achieved by you evaluating the system, soil management and crop production practices at these times, using the information, skills and knowledge you have gained prior, and compiled in this ePortfolio

Each evaluation builds on the previous and allows you to reflect, adapt, improve and learn throughout the programme.

The first three evaluations are formative assessment with constructive feedback provided. 

Your fourth and  final summative  evaluation assessments are marked, to provide the  final mark for each of the four courses on this programme.

These are:

• ENVI4201 Organic Primary Production Operations and Certification

  • • • Evaluate an organic primary production operation

      • Explain how organic standards and compliance requirements are applied to organic crop production

• ENVI4202 Soil and Nutrient Management

  • • • Implement and monitor soil and nutrient management practices to improve soil quality in an organic crop production system

      • Describe factors and practices affecting soil health and fertility in the context of an organic crop production system

• ENVI4203 Biodiversity Management

  • • • Describe the benefits of improving biodiversity within an organic production system

      • Apply strategies to implement and monitor biodiversitypractices to improve biodiversity in an organi production system

• ENVI4204 Organic Crop Production

  • • • Implement and monitor an organic crop production plan over a full production season to satisfy organic compliance requirements

      • Undertake specialised production activities related to organic crop production to meet industry requirements

You must achieve a minimum 50% pass grade in each course to be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Organic Primary  Production (Level 4) (Crop Production).
