Welcome!
You have landed on my website that I am dedicating to my journey with growing orchids as well as research into the history and evolution of Orchids for my SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) research project. Feel free to come back often as I will regularly (or fairly regularly) update my site and blog with new information I've compiled as well as photos, care tips and where my orchids are along the way.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like to offer feedback!
My SCA Research Mission
This project serves as a living bridge between modern orchid cultivation and medieval botanical history. As a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), I am documenting the evolution of orchids—from their medicinal uses as "Salep" in 16th-century herbals to their symbolic representation in Renaissance art. The dashboard below tracks my real-time progress as I compile primary source research, experiment with period-style cultivation, and document the "Map of Discovery" that brought these exotic species to Europe.
