Code of Conduct

ORAM 13 is supported by the National Science Foundation (Grant DMS-2000250). As such, in agreement with the guidelines of the NSF (PAPPG 2019, Chapter II.E.7, Conferences (p. II-40)), we are including the following code-of-conduct that addresses sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, or sexual assault, including clear and accessible means of reporting violations of the code-of-conduct. This code-of-conduct is disseminated to conference participants prior to attendance at the conference as well as made available at the conference itself.

PURPOSE

The Ohio River Analysis Meeting (ORAM) to be held at the University of Kentucky March 16-17 2024, will not tolerate any type of discrimination or harassment based on the following categories: race, color, sex, marital status, religion, creed, national origin, disability, age, military or veteran status, sexual orientation, family relationship to an employee of the University of Kentucky, and gender identity and expression. In addition, ORAM will not tolerate sexual and/or gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence, including sexual violence, stalking, and intimate partner violence, which are referred to in this policy as sexual misconduct. ORAM is committed to taking all appropriate steps to eliminate these forms of sexual misconduct, prevent their recurrence, and address their effects. This policy outlines ORAM's values, prohibited conduct, resources, and reporting options, and processes for reporting instances of discrimination and harassment.

SCOPE OF POLICY

This policy applies to all members of the ORAM community, including speakers, faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and attendees. This policy applies to both on-campus and off-campus conduct. In particular, off-campus conduct is subject to this policy if the conduct occurred in the context of an education program or activity of ORAM or had continuing adverse effects on participation in the program or activity.

REPORTING

ORAM will take immediate action in all allegations of discrimination and/or harassment including sexual and/or gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence, including sexual violence, stalking, and intimate partner violence, to protect the safety of the community and individuals involved. ORAM encourages anyone who has experienced, witnessed or has information pertaining to a potential violation of this policy to take an active role in reporting this behavior. ORAM speakers, faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and attendees are encouraged to report information regarding an incident of sexual misconduct to designated employees of the University of Kentucky for ORAM.

These reporting options are: UK campus police, and the UK Office of Institutional Equity and Equal Opportunity. We are including the relevant contact addresses below. ORAM recognizes, however, that an individual may choose to report to any university employee, even those not specifically designated as a reporting option. ORAM encourages all community members to take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent or stop an act of sexual misconduct. Community members who exercise this obligation will be supported by ORAM and protected from retaliation.
