Optiplex 9010 Ethernet Driver Download _BEST

I have a dell optiplex 9010 desktop PC. I have just installed ubuntu 18.04, alongside windows 10, on my hard disc in a separate partition. All is ok except I cannot establish an internet connection.When I go onto settings> Wi-fi.....it says no wifi adapter found. I have tried running an ethernet cable from laptop to desktop but it will not establish a connection. I then tried tethering my mobile phone and this allowed me to go online however I still cant figure out how to install the drivers!!

Using my laptop (packard bell) I have looked online for the drivers for these devices only because I am assuming the device drivers are not present, I downloaded from an intel web site what I think are the related drivers. The name on the file to be extracted was e1000e-3.8.4.tar.gz.I have extracted these files to a usb stick but have no idea if 1) This is the probable fix and 2) if it is how can I upload these drivers to my desktop. (my desktop is an optiplex 9010)

To support that idea, I AM able to connect with a Dell Optiplex 9010 box. However, at first I was having the same problem. But I found someone talking in another thread that since Windows PE is based off of Vista 32bit, you must have a Network driver made for Vista 32 bit. This made sense, so I located the vista 32 bit driver that came with the 9010 driver package from dell. Added this to the image, and it worked like a champ.

Please don't take this as patronising but did you actually "load" the module for the ethernet.?.I know when i first started with fossapup i had to first load my broadcom driver for the interface to be "seen" by the network manager and initially like yourself i incorrectly assumed fossapup was not going to connect because silly me had overlooked actually loading the module rather than it being done automatically.

Update (2 Jul 2021): Just a quick update. I'm still using 7010 and 9010 MT models. No changes to BIOS or Windows drivers since posting in this long thread more than 18 months ago. The 9010 runs macOS Mojave, I haven't upgraded to Catalina. Only issues I have encountered is the task bar in Windows 10 failing to respond every once in a while for past few years - restarting the Windows Explorer fixed the problem every time. I recently found instructions on how to reregister Start process - too early to say whether it will fix the problem once and for all. I fitted a cheap i5-3475s cpu into the 7010 in late 2020. In early 2021, the 7010 also started to freeze or crash after exactly 30 minutes of use - I traced the problem to possibly defective or poorly seated Samsung PC3-12800 DIMMs. I replaced the pair with Hynix PC3-12800 DIMMs.
