Congratulations to all our CGA students on their impressive exam results! It's always exciting to see hard work pay off, and it's clear that the students at CGA have put in a lot of effort to achieve these high grades.

The International GCSE results are particularly noteworthy with 26% of students achieving the maximum grade of 9. An impressive 69% of students earned a grade of 7 or higher (the equivalent of an A or A* in the old grading scale), indicating that CGA students are performing at a very high level.

The International AS and A Level results are also impressive, with 54% of IAS results being the maximum grade of A and 73% being an A or B. Of the IAL results, 32% were the maximum grade of A* and 61% were an A* or A. These results show that CGA students are excelling at higher levels of education.

Exam results are typically available online six weeks after you take your exams. A printed copy can be picked up from the British Council office and the statement of result will be available within a week.

Students with access to ResultsPlus Direct can see their results online on the results day. Your exams officer or teacher will inform you whether your school or college has chosen to register you to ResultsPlus Direct.

This year grading will include an allowance for disruption so that overall results will be similar to those of 2019. So where national performance is found to be lower than it was prior to the pandemic, senior examiners will make allowances when setting grade boundaries.

Your GCSE results are a very important step in your academic journey, and will affect which qualifications and subjects you take next, your eligibility for your chosen university and course, and even your career prospects later down the line. Many employers require job applicants to meet their minimum requirement in Maths and English at GCSE level.

At the time of applying to university, students will only have their GCSE results and their predicted A-level grades, so this is the information that a university will base its offer on (along with other considerations such as your overall academic profile, personal statement, extracurricular activities, hobbies, etc.).

The way that GCSE grades are calculated depends on the individual subject and exam format, but generally, your GCSE results are determined by the total number of marks you obtain in the exam paper, adjusted if necessary to reflect the overall attainment on a particular exam paper by all students who have taken the same paper in that exam session.

The way that IGCSE grades are calculated depends on the individual subject and exam format, but generally, your IGCSE results are determined by the total number of marks you obtain in the exam paper, adjusted if necessary to reflect the overall attainment on a particular exam paper by all students who have taken the same paper in that exam session. Grade boundaries for IGCSEs vary depending on the subject and the exam board.

Participants can also be randomly allocated to experimental conditions, to avoid experimenter bias (i.e. the experimenter cannot be accused of choosing who will be in each experimental condition, which could affect the results).

At Year 12 , Ishni Dhirendra Halai and Purvi Mahesh Patel both achieved a praiseworthy result of 4 A grades! The results of 132 entries in 12 subjects included 27 A, 19 B, 20 C, 22 D and 20 E grades. Accounting, Business Studies,English Language, Geography and History garnered a noteworthy 100% pass.

In year 13, a class of 31 IAL candidates gave a magnificent performance with 9 out of the 10 subjects recording 100% pass!

Several students achieved commendable results and Khushi Patel who studied 5 subjects emerged the best student with a marvellous result of 3 A, 1 B, 1 C grade. Congratulations to our senior most class and we wish them the very best in their future endeavours.

Our students won 9 awards for gaining 3 or more A* grades at A Level, more than any school in Sri Lanka has ever received before. This included Jananan Mithrakumar and Sanush Nukshan, who both gained 5 A*, results only ever surpassed by one Sri Lankan student.

Grade boundaries are not set until after students take their exams and they have been marked by independent examiners, who use published mark schemes to decide their grades. It's thought thousands of students could be left disappointed after missing out on their predicted grades. Just last week, A-level results across the country dropped significantly compared to previous years. A similar outcomes is expected for GCSE students.

This year, the number of results receiving a grade 7 or higher mark, which equates to an A or A*, is expected to plummet by a massive 230,000. The number of passes is also expected to drop, according to an analysis by Professor Alan Smithers, head of the Centre for Education and Employment Research.

Grade boundaries are issued after the exams have been taken by students, and marked by independent examiners. These boundaries are enforces so that there is a consistency in grading from year to year. If a 2022 exam is easier than a 2021 paper, the grade boundaries are increased. Ofqual says it plans to raise them this year so they can bring results back in line with pre-pandemic grades.

Leaked letters show the regulator wrote to Edexcel amid concerns that there would be a rise in C grades, calling on them to act quickly to produce results that were closer to predictions for the subject.

According to the letters seen by the TES, Ofqual's director of standards, Dennis Opposs wrote to Edexcel on August 7 with concerns that the board was set to award results which would mean the proportion of pupils awarded a C grade would be eight percentage points higher than predicted.

Ofqual replied on August 9, with a letter from Mr Opposs that stated Edexcel is obliged to ensure its results are consistent with other awarding bodies, whose results were close enough to predictions. e24fc04721
