As this page's last update in June 2023,:
Required (100%):
✓ You will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the trip, and with sufficient room for stamps.
✓ You will need travel insurance that at minimum has emergency medical / evacuation coverage. [read on for further details]
No longer required:
x Filling in a health affidavit in order to enter Chile, (was required until October 2022).
x Proof of Covid vaccination (Chile dropped its final Covid-related requirements in May 2023)
We don't expect the above to change, but considering the experience of the past few years:
Know that will keep you updated if anything evolves, and if anything new comes up, we will be there to assist in any way possible.
Regarding travel insurance requirement mentioned above:
Most plans have the emergency coverage required, including the excellent plans we recommend from our partner Travel Insured International. See here.
Travel insurance with emergency coverage is required Antarctica21. It was also until 2022 required by Chile for entry (specifically with coverage for Covid, which TII's plans above have), which if any uptick were to take place in Covid, they could require again.
Our gateway for the trip, Chile, has had one of the best (if not THE best) Covid vaccine campaigns globally. As of early 2023, they not only have one of the highest percentages in the world of population vaccinated, but they have the highest % population with boosters in the globe.
Nonetheless, we know it's important to plan for unforeseen scenarios, even if exceedingly unlikely.
To answer a few questions with this in mind:
If there were an unexpected turn of events and Antarctica21 had to cancel this trip before departure, what would happen?
You would have the option to either reschedule for a future date (keeping your 2024 price even if it increases for new bookings) OR to receive a full refund.
If I buy a travel insurance policy with Travel Insured International (our partner), what will happen if Antarctica21 cancels this trip, or if I decide to postpone?
Travel Insured International will simply adjust the policy to new trip dates, or simply offer you a credit for future use.
Will a Travel Insured International insurance policy cover me if I fall ill or test positive for Covid?
Certainly. In their own words: "COVID-19 is treated that same as any other sickness for purposes of all coverages that are triggered by a sickness or that can reimburse losses resulting from a sickness." So, if getting Covid prevents you from traveling, your policy will cover you. If you get Covid while you are traveling, benefits will apply. Etc.
