Q: How much are lessons?
A: $60 per person.
Q: How long are lessons?
A: 60 minutes. Riders are advised to arrive 30 minutes beforehand and allow 30 minutes after for untacking/tack cleaning/etc.
Q: What are your age requirements?
A: Ages 4-65 years-old are usually what we prefer to stay in, though special considerations may be made so don't be afraid to ask! Children 6 and older can potentially ride on their own. Children 5 and under only qualify for lead line classes.
Q: Do you give group lessons?
A: Yes, we can! Ask one of our instructors or inquire through our email/calling for more information.
Q: Do you offer discounts to purchasing multiple lessons at once?
A: Yes, Joelene offers a pre-pay option for 3 lessons at a time that gives returning riders a $10 discount for each one. Purchasers save $30 overall this way.
Q: What should I wear?
A: While riding boots and pants are highly advised, the minimum requirements for riding are modest clothing and close-toed shoes.
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet?
A: Yes.. If you do not have your own, we can provide one free of charge.
Q: What type of riding do you instruct?
A: We focus on western riding and western fundamentals.
Q: How do I sign up for a lesson?
A: Simply fill out our online reservation form or email us/call the number provided. Once submitted, we’ll contact you within 24 hours to confirm your date, time, and ride details.
Q: What if a student wants to compete?
A: Our instructors are very honest in their specialties and we can teach students the basics in almost any rodeo sport that does not require additional livestock. (i.e. goat roping, sorting, bulldogging, etc.) While we do not focus on competition, we can and will accompany students to playdays to offer coaching and encouragement for a small consulting fee. Speak with Joelene and see what our options might be! If a student is ready to move past our area of expertise, then we actively assist in looking for a mentor they can take that next step forward with.
Q: Where do lessons take place?
A: We have two areas that our students ride in. One is a warm-up pen that all students start in, and the second is a larger pen with plenty of room to move. We believe "the best way to learn is to do" and we move at the pace our student learns best at, so there is never a rush to improve.
Q: What happens if weather is bad?
A: In the event that we need to cancel a lesson due to weather, there will be no additional cost to rescheduling and you will not be charged for the canceled lesson. We do our best to give notification of this no later than an hour before the lesson start time.
Q: What are your cancelation policies?
A: We currently do not charge students for canceling a lesson so long as notification is given before the time the lesson would have started. If no notification is given before a lesson's start time, it will be considered a no-call-no-show and the student will be unable to take another lesson unless they pay a $20 "NCNS" fee.
Q: Are there weight or safety restrictions?
A: Our weight limit is 250 lbs, though special considerations can potentially be made. Both weight evaluation and safety restrictions are viewed on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed further with a staff member.
Q: Why Exposure instead of a Lesson?
A: Not everyone intends to ride right away or, in some cases, ride at all! Some people just enjoy being around horses and others want to learn more to become comfortable around them. No matter your on-the-ground goal, this is exactly intended to feed those desires!
Q: Do I need experience with horses beforehand?
A: Nope! We often suggest exposure sessions to brand new beginners, in fact. A strong connection with a horse always starts on the ground, no saddle included!
Q: What should I wear?
A: Closed-toe shoes are a must. Pants are recommended to avoid saddle rubbing and pinching.
Q: How long are sessions?
A: Sessions can be as short as the guest desires, but standard is 30 minutes with the option to add more time before the session if desired.
Q: What age groups can participate in an exposure session?
A: Children of any age can attend an exposure session so long as they are accompanied by a guardian. Depending on their desire to run around, we may require that children 5 and under be held by said guardian when around horses outside their paddock. Never will an exposure session take place with a loose horse.
Q: How do I reserve a session?
A: Simply fill out our online reservation form. Once submitted, we’ll contact you within 24 hours to confirm your date, time, and session details.
Q: Can we attend sessions as a group?
A: Yes. Our group cap can flucuate depending on time of year and horses available. If you have a large group (5+ people), contact us via our email or give us a call to learn more.
Q: Do I have to wear a helmet?
A: No. Since you will not be riding a horse, you are not required to wear a helmet, but we do require close-toed shoes. This is non-negotiable.
Q: What happens if weather is bad?
A: In the event that we need to cancel due to weather, there will be no additional cost to rescheduling and you will not be charged for the cancelation.
Q: What are your cancelation policies?
A: We currently do not charge clients for canceling a session so long as notification is given before the time it would have started. If no notification is given before a session's start time, it will be considered a no-call-no-show and the client will be unable to attend another unless they pay a $20 "NCNS" fee.
Q: Can I bring my items/phone/camera to a session?
A: Yes- as long as it does not distract our guests from the session itself. If it becomes disruptive, then cameras/devices may be asked to be put away. Instructors will often snap pictures for our social media and to share with guests as well.
