About this book

Why Open Science?

We embarked on assembling this resource to provide a flexible and free resource for the students at the University of Maryland, College Park. We teach open science and value the contributions of the community. We also others will find this resource useful as well. The making of this website and the accompanying R tutorial was generously funded by a grant from the University of Maryland to Drs. Tracy Tomlinson, Ben Jones and Brian Kim.

We compiled this website from a variety of sources, but relied most heavily on lumen learning courses which we have edited and re-mixed substantially.
