When and where do you meet?

Every Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm, we meet in the MakerSpace on the 3rd floor of the Tyler Public Library (located at 201 S College Ave, Tyler, TX 75702).

What if I can't stay for the whole 2 hours?

If you need to come late or leave early, it is not a problem as long as you enter and leave quietly. We'll fill you in on what we're doing as soon as we get to a stopping point.

What do you do at your meetings?

Usually there is some form of lesson related to writing, editing, marketing, or other writing life subjects. That is followed by sharing short things we've written outside of group. After that we do writing exercises together, usually in 10 minute intervals and either read them aloud (in person) or put them in the comments on the Facebook page by text (for people that participate on Facebook only).

Do I have to read aloud?

No, but it really helps us get a chance to gauge your writing level and what kinds of things you might need help with. It's also just more fun when people read aloud. It's surprising to see all the directions different people's brains go when they're all writing from the same prompt.

What if I'm just a beginner?

We are here for all levels of writers, beginners included! We look forward to meeting you and helping you become the writer you've always dreamed of becoming.

What if I'm a seasoned writer?

We are here for all levels of writers, seasoned writers included! We look forward to meeting you and learning more from you about your genre, writing style, and anything else you have to offer. Or if you're not interested in sharing your knowledge, that's okay, too. We look forward to spending time interacting with you!

Can I bring food and drink into the Library?

The Library allows us to bring water bottles with lids during the normal course of the year. Food is not allowed, except with special permission (we sometimes have holiday parties or author celebrations). 

Please do not bring lunch/dinner with you. 

If you need to take a break to eat a snack, there is an indoor patio with tables on the first floor of the library, off to the right as you enter through the main doors, just past the bathrooms.

Please be considerate and make sure to clean up after yourself. This lovely location lets us use their space free of charge - let's help them continue to help us by keeping things tidy!
