Our mission is to increase capacity for public health systems to test the population for COVID19, but providing information pertaining to testing.
Wide-spread COVID-19 testing is an essential for public health to control the spread of this deadly virus.
We will strive to provide evidence-based information for COVID-19 testing, specifically for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based methods to the general scientific community.
One way this could be achieved is through the re-purposing and re-tooling of current life science laboratory equipment and reagents to create ad-hoc testing, increasing healthcare system capabilities.
One foreseeable problem is the lack of availability of testing kits, creating backlogs and delays in testing, lack of staffing in pathology labs.
One function of this site is to provide alternative testing kits/reagents that could potentially be used in place of agency/jurisdictionally recommended/mandated kits.
We will focus on three main strategies:
To recommend PCR-based tests based on different jurisdictions.
To design tests in order to get close to recommended PCR-based assays (substituting similar kits)
To hypothesize on the Minimum Required Test (Cheapest, Easiest, Fastest, Available, Lowest level of education required)
