Hardware
This page is simply listing various hardware components available for use in any of the components of the Open Source Drum Module solution.
The border between specific usage scenarios blurs as the power of these hardware solutions grows over time.
Microcontrollers
- Arduino
- C-Control, Conrad's Arduino-based microcontroller line
- Nucleo, ARM
- LPCXpresso, ARM, (example)
- Teensy board (link, Hackaday link), a 32bit ARM Cortex M4-based board, provides 21 analog inputs.
Expansions
Expanding microcontroller boards could be provided via Grove system.
System-on-Chip (SoC)
These are full system boards, usually running an operating system and having standard input and output connectors (HDMI, USB, network, etc.).
The performance and price varies between different options, making them a potential option for both the Signal Input board or the Sound Host component.
There are various options available:
- ARM
- Intel
- Mini ITX board solution (description @ Wikipedia)
- Raspberry Pi
Storage
Storage options are plentiful. Depending on the VST plugin and samples, a large storage may be required.
- SSD hard drive
- USB3 hard disk drive
- Flash card
- USB Flash stick
