Dr. Saroj Misra is a primary care physician who is board-certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. He has been in practice since 2001 and has served as academic faculty since that time. He specializes in women's health, hypertension, dyslipidemia, depression/anxiety, and osteopathic manipulative treatment for disease processes and chronic pain. Dr. Misra seeks to ensure that each patient is cared for in a manner that considers all elements related to the body, mind, and spirit for promotion of wellness or treatment of disease. Academically, Dr. Misra promotes an educational culture of ‘learning without fear’ and strives to ensure all learners are both heard and listened to. Dr. Misra graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at St. John Oakland Hospital and a Primary Care Teaching Fellowship at Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine. Dr. Misra holds academic appointments with Michigan State University, Des Moines University, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, and A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.In 2018, Dr. Misra was named the Family Physician of the Year by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Misra has spent his professional career practicing and teaching medicine at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, where he served as Program Director of Family Medicine and Director of Medical Education for over 16 years. He now serves as Core Faculty for the program and Chief of the Department of Family Medicine. In addition, he has been recognized multiple times for his teaching and training skills by various local, state, and national organizations. Dr. Misra is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (where he is a Governor on the board), the Michigan Osteopathic Association, and the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians (where he is a Past President).
