Transcript check involves reviewing the video's entire transcript on Otter.ai, and fixing any grammatical or spelling mistakes so the transcript is accurate and easy to follow. Use the following steps and standards below for each transcript check.
Step 1: Navigate to https://otter.ai/ (Login info in the password doc)
Step 2: Once you find your transcript, click "edit" in the upper right hand corner
Step 3: Edit any spelling/grammatical errors you find, and follow the standards for each specific incident listed below.
Capitalize the video's title in the transcript (if applicable)
Capitalize the speaker title(s)
ex: "Dr. Sharon Tucker is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing Practice at the University of Central Florida."
When writing dosages, there should be a space between the number and the unit (ex: 18 mg/kg)
For numbers that are not dosage based, spell out numbers one through nine. Numbers 10 and above can be written numerically.
ex 1: "We reviewed three studies to come to this conclusion."
ex: 2: "This study included a total of 95 participants."
When speakers stumble on their words or repeat a phrase, cut out the second time they repeat the phrase. For example, if a speaker says "So, when we conducted this study we had a total of --- we had a total of 95 participants," you can edit the sentence so it reads "So, when we conducted this study, we had a total of 95 participants."
Remove any instance in the transcript where the speaker says "Um," "Uh," or "Yeah"
If your video has chapters: Move the chapter to its own line, make sure the appropriate words in the chapter are capitalized, and add a period after it (see example below)
