About the Ontario Band Program

Band Director

Starting in the Fall of 2016, Sean DeLong is the Band Director at Ontario Local Schools in Ontario, Ohio. He plays bass trombone in the Ashland Community Band, Westerville Concert Band and the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Company as well as being a freelance performer and educator.

In 2013, Sean completed Bachelors degrees in Music Education and Trombone Performance at The Ohio State University and studied with Mr. Joseph Duchi. While at Ohio State, Sean was a five year member of The Ohio State University Marching Band. He completed his Masters in Music Education also at Ohio State studying with Dr. Russel Mikkelson, Dr. Daryll Kinney, and Dr. Christopher Hoch. In addition, he served as a Graduate Teaching Associate with The Ohio State University Marching Band for two years.

Currently living in North Central Ohio, Sean teaches private lessons in the area. When not with his trombone or his students, Sean enjoys all matters of Cleveland and Ohio State sports and spends time with his friends and family whenever possible.

Choir/Assistant Band Director

Megan Gwirtz is the choir director and assistant marching band director at Ontario Local Schools. She most recently graduated from Heidelberg University in 2020 with a degree in Music Education.


Megan’s primary instrument is Trumpet, but she also enjoys playing piano and clarinet. Through instrumental music Megan helped to restart the marching band in college under the direction of Jon Waters. Vocally, Megan sings alto in choirs and currently sings in her church Choir. Megan has even sung internationally when her Collegiate Concert Choir traveled to Budapest, Hungary and Prague, Czech Republic in 2019.


Megan is born and raised just North of Crestline, OH and is excited to be moving back home to teach in the area. Aside from music she loves nature, crafting, and animals. You can even find her in a tractor helping her family farm from time to time!

Percussion Assistant

Starting in the fall of 2020 Samuel Weaver will be serving as Percussion Assistant to the Warrior Marching Band. Originally from Newark OH, Sam completed his undergraduate studies at Malone University before going on to complete a Masters degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Sam has been drumming since the fourth grade and has always had a passion for percussion. During high school Sam played an array of percussion instruments while performing at OMEA events for concert and marching band. While the drum set is his primary instrument, he played the tenor drums in marching band. Sam is really looking forward to helping out with the drum line and sharing his love of drumming with the students of the Warrior Band.
