Choose a Stable Location: Select a flat and stable surface to place the tripod.Â
Extend the tripod legs: Adjust the tripod legs to a comfortable height, ensuring they are securely locked in place. The legs should be spread evenly to provide a stable base.
Mount the Dumpy Level: Carefully attach the dumpy level to the tripod head. Tighten the mounting screw to secure the instrument firmly, ensuring it remains stable during operation.
Level the instrument: Use the leveling screws and the bubble level to adjust the dumpy level until it is perfectly horizontal.
Focus the telescope: Adjust the eyepiece to focus on the crosshairs, then use the focusing knob to bring the target into clear view. Ensure the image is sharp and the crosshairs are aligned with the target.
Verify Stability: Double-check that the tripod and dumpy level are secure and that the bubble level remains centered. Make any necessary adjustments before proceeding with measurements.
