Admin Abuse
One of the central tenets of a successful realm is having moderators that are dedicated to the wellbeing of the community. Players rely on a good moderator to alleviate their possible concerns, manage the realm, and ensure a safe space for all to have fun. To prevent against abuse of power, we introduced a strict selection process for potential applicants along with a player-enforced model which ensured Operators did not hurt the players they were meant to help. Their responsibility and prudence are the reason the realm is where it is today.
It is of utmost importance to recognize that power is a privilege. It has been acknowledged that this model could potentially cultivate imbalance in the server, leading certain individuals to become immoral, unethical, and corrupt, if left unregulated. While we do our best to conduct screening for every potential admin, the system is far from perfect.
When administrator powers are in the wrong hands, they can be used to foster distrust between server members and the administrative team, ultimately affecting the members we are committed to serve. There are good reasons why most worlds do not grant members administrator permissions. However, we believe in our vision for an equal community where everyone can stand united and dividing this power among our most trusted members is the first step in achieving a safer and stronger community based on mutual trust and respect.
As admins of a ONEWorld survival realm, our primary concern is to ensure the most authentic survival experience for members by moderating discussions, engaging in player inquiries and conducting random audits to ensure the integrity of the server. We understand that the core premise of an SMP server is all about providing a welcoming space for all members to have build, socialize and have fun. Minecraft is a game focused on human artistic creativity and promoting these beliefs remain our utmost priority.
As a player, you may notice that our physical presence in day-to-day interactions is kept to a minimum. This is to ensure everyone feels their privacy is being respected. ONEWorld draws inspiration from moderators on Minecraft servers, where their presence is often only noticed through server messages and the player list. Imagine a playing a world in survival, while watching an admin publicly enjoying the benefits of creative by flying around or using commands.
Resultantly, do not ask admins for items aside from officially approved claims, regardless of how small the request may be as this can easily become a habit. Giving items obtained in Creative to players undermines other’s efforts who actually obtain their own items by themselves, ultimately creating an entitled community with inflated progress that deviates from the original intent of a survival server.
