Sue MacLeod-Beere is a contemporary Australian artist born in New Zealand based in Sydney.

Her work process starts with a drawing or small painting working directly from the subject where possible with plein air a focus of her practice. The challenge to use the fresh, first impression and explore the subtleties of the subject to find the story within.

A three times Gallipoli Art Prize finalist also Mosman, KAAF and Ravenswood Art Prizes finalist.

Winner of the Hunters Hill 2020 Prize and Nora Heysen Prize twice.

Sue has a BA(hons) from Ravensbourne College of Art & Design, UK and won a John Olsen scholarship for Julian Ashton Art School.

Her work has been used on the sets of Australian TV shows including ABC’s ‘Wakefield’.

The depth and the emotion she finds in her surroundings be it landscapes, people or still life comes to life in a gentle and elegant way.
