Premium fine art and local history are set to collide at an outstanding art event on Saturday and Sunday, 19th and 20th November, as Australia’s largest non-profit studios – one+2 in Rozelle – throws open its doors to the public for the annual Open Weekend.

The event will showcase fine art from around 50 of Sydney’s top creative talents – all in residence at 483 Balmain Road - and offer a unique, behind-the-scenes opportunity to meet the artists in their working environment, see demonstrations of the artwork being created, and buy art direct.

The one+2 artist studios' Open Weekend will also celebrate the history of 483 Balmain Road (which in its time has been a large bakery and a cosmetics company warehouse) in the form of a one-off group exhibition of miniature works created by the one+2 artists, based on the theme of the building’s history and aesthetics.

Budding artists of all ages are also invited to contribute an open art wall, which will be positioned alongside the group exhibition throughout the Open Weekend. Contributors will be encouraged to embrace the historical theme, and all art materials will be provided.

“This is not your standard art show – it is a sneak peek into the lives of working professional artists, all housed within an interesting building which is fun to explore,” said Mr Rogerio Blanc-Ramos, Director of one+2 artist studios. “The group exhibition and art wall will also create a unique, interactive element not seen at normal art shows.”
